He’d been fearing medical attention since before he raced across the width of the UK at The Wall, he knew that his hips were in trouble and now this young physiotherapist was telling him it might be all over.
‘If it is, it’s early stages and we can hopefully get it under control’ she added as panic strode purposefully across the face of UltraBoy…
The realisation that running might be over for him is not something he is ready to face. UltraBoy was scared.
The reality is I’m in trouble but with four races to go between now and October I figure I can get through them them with a combination of physiotherapy, stretching and training – I can’t stop running yet. After that we shall see.
But what a physiotherapist, even though I’m an absolute cripple today she was able to work my hips properly which was awesome.
I neglected to add a mention for @UltraDHC who saved the day by giving me a lift to the station post race at SDW50. Without him I’d have been stranded and alone. You are the best and also fast as grease lightning. My thanks are great and many!
Govember is going okay, I’ve run at leat 10 miles on each of the #RunCommute days and I’ve done swimming, cycling or both on the non work days. It’s 100% true that my hip feels a bit like it’s been sat on by a baby elephant and that I can barely move around my office all day. It’s true that the weather has been challenging and there simply aren’t enough showering facilities in my workplace but it’s good to be being out there and actually running on a daily basis. The questions are though, can my body cope with going from no training to a minimum of 50 miles per week? Does my bum look big in this very heavy heavy OMM rucksack? and can I afford not to be doing the training given that the Country to Capital is just around the corner?
